Heishangu Scenic Area in Chongqing is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, a national geopark, and a national forest park. The scenic area boasts abundant natural landscapes, integrating mountains, waters, springs, forests, and caves, with a perfect blend of strangeness, danger, grandeur, beauty, and seclusion. It features 奇峰 (unique peaks), 异石 (unusual rocks), towering ancient trees, clear blue waters, deep gorges, and cascading waterfalls. It also preserves ancient geological landforms and rare species of birds and animals.

- Spring: Clear waters flow through 幽谷 (secluded valleys), and beautiful peaks are inhabited by green birds, making it hard to leave.
- Summer: Dense forests form a canopy that blocks the sun, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere.
- Autumn: The forests are dyed in rich hues, with plump pheasants and hares scurrying through, making visitors feel like they are in a fairyland.
- Winter: The landscape is wrapped in white snow, presenting a pure and beautiful scene.
- Unique Features:
- Historically, it was the summer palace of the Yelang Kingdom and is surrounded by poetic legends.
- The area features deep gorges with jade-like waters. Exploring it, you’ll encounter “gorges within gorges,” “valleys within valleys,” “caves within caves,” and “waterfalls upon waterfalls,” a dazzling display of natural wonders.
- It is rich in biodiversity, housing national first-class protected plants like Cathaya argyrophylla and Davidia involucrata, as well as animals such as black leaf monkeys and clouded leopards. Known as the “Biological Gene Bank of Chongqing and Guizhou,” it is currently the largest natural ecological scenic area in Chongqing with the best-preserved original ecosystem.
