· Gongtan Ancient Town is small in size but preserves unique firewalls, simple and quiet courtyards, and multiple stilt houses, with most residents being local aboriginals.
· There is a slate street about three li long in the town, connecting all the old buildings in the ancient town, including the Ran Family Courtyard, Xiqing Guild Hall, Chuanzhu Temple, and Dong Family Ancestral Hall.
· The Ran Family Courtyard is a must-see attraction in the ancient town. It was once the residence of Ran Shenzhi, a chieftain of the Qing Dynasty, and preserves the best-preserved woodcarved window grilles and other cultural relics in the town.
· The ancient town has a low commercial atmosphere, retaining its simplicity and leisure. There are also cruise ships for touring the Wujiang Gallery by the river, and it is a pleasure to watch the steep cliffs on both sides of the green river.
