The Wujiang River Hundred – mile Gallery is a scenic spot straddling Chongqing and Guizhou, and it represents the most splendid part of the thousand – mile – long Wujiang River.
- Scenic Details: The section in Chongqing includes the stretch of the main stream of the Wujiang River from Gongtan Ancient Town in Youyang County to Wanmu Township, incorporating many scenic spots such as Gongtan Ancient Town and the Apeng River Rafting Area.
- Historical Sites: Gongtan Ancient Town has a history of over 1,700 years. Maancheng is the site of the uprising of the Golden – Headed Monk in the Southern Song Dynasty. These cultural relics have a rich heritage and are of great research value.
- Ethnic Customs: The area is rich in ethnic customs. The ancient Tujia customs of carrying the bride on the back and crying during weddings, the unique corn lantern opera, and the wooden – leaf love songs through which young men and women express their love are all very charming.
